X-Loop Antenna
'Bowtie' twisted configuration corner-fed/terminated loop antenna

The X-Loop configuration is noted for high-angle signal rejection and low-angle performance at medium wave frequencies. The optimum aspect ratio of horizontal width vs. vertical height is 3:1, or 100-ft wide by 30-ft tall typical minimum size. Smaller dimensions may not provide enough gain without amplification at lower frequencies. An X-Loop outside the 3:1 aspect ratio will result in deterioration of the backside null, but may still provide enough high-angle skywave rejection to be useful for low-angle DXing. The 10-ft vertical radials help to reduce the minor backside lobe which is common in corner-fed/terminated twisted loop configurations including the DHDL and the X-Loop. Typical termination resistance ranges between 1.2k and 1.6k ohms.
EZNEC 6.0 Demo 3D model midband (1000 kHz) results for a smaller antenna at 3:2 aspect ratio vs. typical size antenna at 3:1 aspect ratio; 1.2k ohm termination resistance.
