Eclipse Data: Begin 2:15 p.m. 94.8 % Maximum 3:29 p.m. End 4:38 p.m. EDT (UTC-4)
Observations: DX signals peaked 3:20 to 3:40 p.m. propagating from inside and outside the path of totality. North Carolina/Virginia/DC, Michigan/Ohio, and Ontario were especially hot spots. As the path of totality passed to the northeast, there was no enhancement of signals to the northeast from Maine or the Canadian Maritimes. In some cases, the eclipse seemed to have an opposite effect. Nothing from Maine regulars 780 WEZR or WXME, and 1230 WGUY. Some frequencies were very active, while other non-local frequencies remained relatively stable. For example, 550 was dominated by WSJW Rhode Island with no sign of WGR Buffalo and WDEV Vermont, and WPHT was the only signal received on 1210 through the entire period, while other frequencies were a jumble. A couple of the weirder frequencies were 1010 and 1190 kHz with New York City regulars WINS and WLIB remarkably absent.
V-Soft predicted field strengths for AM radio stations serving Nashua are provided at the bottom of the page for reference. V-Soft doesn't include signals weaker than 50 dBu, so DX regulars from NYC, Maine, Vermont, and Rhode Island, among others don't show up, but at least it provides baseline identification of local radio stations.
